I learned about rollip on Shutter Sisters and went to town tonight. Like SS says, it’s not for the polaroid purist but it sure is fun.

Some of these might look familiar. I. The little cabin I loved at Jen’s Uncle’s place. II. Me and Natalie in New Orleans, being silly. III. Stoic pelican taken on a kayak trip during our vacation in Florida last summer. IV. A nice day last fall with some friends on the lake. V. Hawthorne Valley Farm calf, licking its own nose.

I want to give September a giant hug. It’s been a great month, full of blue sky days and clear chilly nights. I’m loving the need to drink tea and wear a sweater.

Yesterday I had an urge to get out of the city and drive for a little while. This is a fairly standard clear-my-head move for me, one I developed during my years of living in small towns. I love my city life but there’s something about big, open fields that I can’t get over. I think it’s the Kansas in me.
I ended up at Taste in East Aurora, and because I thought I might go for a hike at Hunter’s Creek, I wore some old pants, a vest, and my boots.
I love the feeling of being a woman in muddy boots. There’s a slight genderfuck to it I think. I can honestly say that walking around in boots and old pants makes me feel stronger, more capable. I loved my farm uniform for those reasons, the idea of always wearing something I could wipe my hands on.
The rest of my weekend was active. Sean is really great about doing and it’s made me eager to do more, talk less. I rearranged some rooms in the house, cut the hedges, took stuff down from/up to the attic, cleaned. The only thing I didn’t do that needs doing is snaking the clogged bathtub. It will be disgusting and I might dry heave. Maybe I should put on my boots and be brave.

In honor of PUSH Buffalo’s third annual “Buffalo Takes Manhattan” party this weekend, I thought I’d share some photos that will be on display and up for auction at the event. They’re all of PUSH-owned properties, some of which have been rehabbed and some of which are awaiting renovation. To see the full set, visit my Flickr page.

I. Possibly my favorite photo of Josh ever. Took this on Cannon Beach on the coast of Oregon. We stopped in this town for lunch and about an hour of beach combing. II. The patio at the Pied Cow, a SE Portland dining establishment. This place had great dessert as well as a hookah bar. Lauren and I split a bottle of red. III. Fog/mist rolling in and out, all along the coast. I never got over it, it was always beautiful. This shot taken in Cannon Beach, OR. IV. At the food cart lot in Portland, devouring some free ice cream. Photo by Lauren. V. Can life get more romantic than this? Creperie food cart in SE Portland. Sigh.
