I signed up for reverb10 in December, a blog challenge that asks each participant to respond to a prompt every day for the entire month. One of reverb’s organizers, Gwen Bell, did a similar end-of-the-year wrap up event in 2009 with her best of ’09 challenge (reverb10 grew from it).
I didn’t feel too bad when I started to slack off on both my public and private responses to the prompts because I had a feeling it would be hard to keep up. The prompts I did consider resulted in very useful and meaningful reflection. I finally wrote about things I’d been meaning to get out for awhile as well as things I didn’t know I needed to address.
On the blog, I shared with you all responses to the following: healing, wisdom, action, 11 things, partying, community, being different, wonder, letting go, making, moments, writing, and one word.
Would I do it again?

Maybe. I loved the opportunity for reflection but I didn’t always love the prompts. I found that the best of ’09 topics were more suited for the kind of reflection I want to do and have time to do at the end of the year. I like a mix of intense reflection and playful prompts. As much as I hate to admit it, sometimes I just didn’t have time to dig deep into reverb. And yes, I know that digging deep is the point of a challenge but perhaps this one isn’t for me, at least not in December.
If the lovely ladies at reverb decide to make a reverb11, I will no doubt check it out. I may keep my participation private though, and enjoy soaking up the reverberations from those who don’t. Thank you Gwen, Kaileen, and Cali!

aggaspletch - You are spot on, regarding the constant serious serious tone of the prompts/questions. Well said…
Alaia - I’m pretty much with you on the whole thing.
I’ve connected with lots of interesting people because of reverb though, so I’m definitely happy that I signed up.
Lots of interesting entries bookmarked to go back and read!
Happy 2011 to you!
whitney - Thanks, you two. I really enjoyed the community part of reverb10, that part was a great improvement on best09
