the chosen spot

We spent the weekend in Canandaigua so we could celebrate our nephew’s first birthday and so I could attend Sean’s sister’s bachelorette party.  Despite the lack of sleep I got while there, I came back home feeling refreshed and energized. I guess sometimes you don’t know you need a break until you’re on it.

On Sunday, the first official day of  Spring, Sean and I took a walk in Kershaw Park, which runs along the North end of the lake. We spent an hour talking about our wedding, our careers, the future, and plans for the summer.

A lot of our talk was about making choices, and our desire to actively choose our life rather than fall into whatever is convenient or next.  Canandaigua’s tagline, it turns out, is “The Chosen Spot.”

What are your plans for Spring? Are you too trying to make sincere choices rather than float along? Tell me.

Teresa - I had the somewhat stunning realization over the weekend that I am happy. I mean happy in the deep down kind of way. Not necessarily at peace, because that implies a quietude and I feel energized. I am happy with the choices that I have made in my life, and I feel like I am on my right path. For the first time in a very long time, my life finally seems to fit me. It is a wonderful thing. Just the kind of rebirth you always hope for in the Spring, but rarely achieve.

whitney - I’m so happy to hear that, Teresa! I’m proud of what you’ve done in the past year, and am inspired by your changes.
